If you lead people through yoga, breathwork, coaching or a women's weekend, you know the retreat is only as good as the place that holds it. You need a quiet room for your sessions, good beds, food your group feels well on, and a host who takes care of the background so you can stay with your people. At The Grayson, all of that is on one property: private suites, a detached Focus Workshop for your sessions, and a chef who cooks from the garden.
We are a family-owned bed and breakfast in the Cascade foothills on Highway 2, in Monroe, Washington, serving Seattle and the Eastside. The Grayson grew out of 26 years in health care and administration, and it was made to give guests a place to rest. This page is written for wellness coaches, yoga teachers and retreat leaders choosing where to host a small retreat.
Who hosts retreats here
You bring the program and the facilitator. We bring the lodging, the meals and the help behind the scenes. You run your days your way. Groups that suit The Grayson well include:
- Yoga and movement teachers running a weekend or midweek retreat.
- Breathwork and mindfulness leaders who want quiet mornings and unhurried evenings.
- Life, health and business coaches taking a small group away for deeper work.
- Women's retreat hosts planning a weekend of rest, conversation and good food.
- Pastoral and church leadership retreats looking for a quiet place to pray, plan and rest.
- Marriage and couples retreats led by a counselor or coach, with private suites for each couple.
- Sales coaching and team retreats that need focused sessions by day and real rest at night.
- Writers’ retreats, writing-for-wellness and journaling circles. The Baker suite, sun-drenched with a real work area, is known as the writer's room.
Quilting and crafting groups use the same room too.
The Focus Workshop: your session room
The Focus Workshop is a detached 14 by 28 foot building with its own door, a garden path from the house. Your sessions stay private, and the suites stay quiet.
- Set it your way. A circle, a masterclass layout or a roundtable, or cleared to the floor for movement practice. A sofa lounge corner and a central round table are there for smaller talks.
- Bring your own equipment. Mats, bolsters, sound bowls, journals or art supplies are all welcome. Drive-up loading at the door makes the carrying easy.
- Already in the room. Its own Starlink, an overhead projector with screen, two large whiteboards, a printer, office supplies, rolling carts, built-in and movable bookshelves, window shades, plenty of power, and its own coffee and tea bar.
- Safe and sound. A 14 by 28 foot room with two exits, a fire extinguisher, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, ceiling fans and a first aid kit. A loft area with a step stool holds extra gear, and deliveries are dropped right at the door.
- Comfort. Heating, a ceiling fan and portable fans. String lights light the stepping-stone path for evening sessions.
- Size. Best for 6 to 12 people, with 15 seated at most, depending on the layout.
Please plan around a few honest limits. The Focus Workshop is open from about March or April, depending on the weather, through October, and it is closed in winter. It is reached by a stepping-stone path and is not step-free. Restrooms are in the main house, about 350 feet away.
The Focus Workshop is a separate booking, never bundled into a suite rate or a buyout. It is priced by the number of suites you book: $315* a day on its own or with one or two suites, $265* with three or four, and $195* with five suites or a buyout. Workshop days are usually nights minus one, so you arrive one day and begin the next. Optional help is there if you want it: a Setup Assistant at $75* an hour, and Breakdown & Cleanup for $110*.

Food that fits a wellness retreat
- Breakfast is included for every overnight guest, served 9 to 11 AM. For early sessions, the Early Riser Express brings parfaits, orchard fruit, croissants, coffee and tea for $15* a guest.
- Our chef can cook the rest. A chef-cooked group lunch or dinner is $35* per person, beverages included, with to-go boxes for snacking. Desserts are a $15* per person add-on. Lunch can be family style at the grand dining table, boxed and brought to the Focus Workshop, or al fresco on the garden patio.
- Food made with care. Locally grown, organic, nutrient-dense ingredients, our own free-range eggs and garden herbs, and a seed-oil-free kitchen. Vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free, gluten-free and nut-free diets are welcome. Send dietary needs before you arrive; specialty ingredients may carry a small charge.
- Your own caterer is fine. There is no required caterer and no food minimum.
- The Hearth & Honey Long Table Brunch. Complimentary with a block of four or more suites. Without a qualifying block, it is $450* flat for up to 10 people, plus up to 15 more guests at $45* a plate.
- A kitchen of your own on a buyout. With a buyout, the Chef's Kitchen is yours. Otherwise, the chef cooks for you.
*Prices subject to change.
Rest between sessions
- Suites made for deep sleep. Every suite has a queen bed with our Created Comfort Sleep system, an adjustable heated mattress pad, and its own heat tile and ceiling fan. The West Side Quiet Zone sits away from the kitchen and laundry.
- Somewhere to unwind. An outdoor infrared sauna, and a two-person jetted tub in the Olympic suite.
- Outdoors. Garden paths, the Firepit Oasis with its swings, free-range chickens, and white-tailed deer at dusk and dawn.
- A calm house. The Grayson does not serve alcohol, though guests may bring their own. Quiet hours run 10 PM to 6 AM. Our well water has no chlorine or fluoride, and we use fragrance-free laundry products and organic cleaners.
Rooms, privacy and the practical details
- Room for your group. Every group sleeps differently: families squeeze in, corporate groups take one guest per suite, couples each want their own room, and teens sometimes bunk together. Inquire if we can accommodate your group’s size. Extra queen air mattresses are available in two suites. Guests beyond two in a suite are $15.75* a night.
- Three ground-floor suites. The Olympic, Cascade and Pike have zero stairs and a ramp.
- No minimum group size. Book only the suites you need. Group perks begin at three suites, and blocks start at three days and two nights.
- Exclusive use comes with a buyout. Book every available room, with our hospitality centered on your group. A buyout also adds a hosted Last Together Supper. Need confidentiality for your group? We are glad to sign your NDA.
- A 1 PM late checkout comes with every buyout and every Monday through Thursday group stay. Midweek dates cost less, too.
- Laundry is paid for B&B guests and included on Extended Stays.
- Getting here. Monroe is two miles out, and historic Snohomish is 10 miles, for an afternoon of shops and cafes. Paine Field in Everett is the closest airport. Check-in is 4 to 8 PM, and check-out is 11 AM.
If your course runs again and again, you can book the same suites one weekend or weekend after weekend.
