⚽ Seattle 2026 Tournament Survival Guide
The beautiful game has officially taken over the Pacific Northwest. With legendary international matches anchoring down at Lumen Field Stadium, the energy in the Emerald City is undeniable. However, let’s be entirely real: between skyrocketing demand and massive security cordons, you cannot just wing your trip.
A "Smart Spectator" doesn't just show up to the match; they read the room, outsmart the corporate pricing traps, and protect their safety. Here are the 5 tactical chokepoints to avoid:
DODGE: Lodging Inside City Limits. Downtown hotels are capitalizing on the squeeze with eye-watering $1,000+ nightly rates. Bypass the urban core, stay at a quiet basecamp like The Grayson, and use the Sound Transit Link Light Rail.
DODGE: The "Soft-on-Safety" Illusion. The global scale of the games has forced an intense law enforcement footprint. The fan zones are safe, but you need to stay smart, stick to main paths, and remain within designated transit corridors.
DODGE: Driving to SoDo. Main arteries are hitting historic gridlock levels, and private parking lots are demanding up to $200. Leave the car at your lodging.
DODGE: Ordering Uber at the Gates. When the match ends, rideshare apps hit a technical meltdown. Walk 15 minutes away from the stadium to adjacent neighborhoods like Beacon Hill before opening your app to bypass extreme surge pricing.
DODGE: The 30-Minute Arrival. Federal security checkpoints create massive bottlenecks. If you aren't at the outer perimeter at least 90 minutes early, you will miss kickoff.
🏡 The Sanctuary Play: Safe Basecamps & Team Sightings
Teams like the USMNT are completely bypassing downtown Seattle's congestion by setting up their high-security base camps across the water on the Eastside in Bellevue and Kirkland.
Follow their lead. Retreat to a quiet, secure base camp just outside the urban madness at The Grayson B&B, hop on a stress-free light rail ride straight to the gates, and let the chaos fade behind you when the match ends.
⚔️ WA Midsummer Renaissance Fair: Elevate Your Weekend
Huzzah! The Washington Midsummer Renaissance Fair draws thousands of lords, ladies, and mythical creatures to the region every August. But after a long day of jousting, turkey legs, and traversing the dusty fairgrounds, pitching a tent in the noisy camping fields isn't for everyone.
If you love the immersive magic of the faire but demand modern luxury when the sun goes down, The Grayson B&B is the ultimate noble retreat. Elevate your weekend with our tactical fair plays:
Retreat from the Heat & Dust: Spending 8 hours in full leather armor or heavy velvet gowns is an endurance sport. Bypass the crowded campground showers and return to a pristine, air-conditioned suite with an expansive, spa-like bathroom.
The Heavy-Duty Garb Wash: Spilled mead on your best tunic? Dragged your cloak through the mud at the jousting arena? Our guests have full, complimentary access to our heavy-duty laundry facilities to refresh expensive garb overnight.
👑 The Royal Treatment
Leave the campfire cooking to the peasants. Wake up feeling refreshed in a premium, blackout-curtained suite and join us in the dining room for our signature hot breakfast before you make your way to the fairgates.

The Evergreen State Fair — late August into early September
The Grayson is a bed & breakfast in Monroe, the same town as the Evergreen State Fairgrounds. Come for the Fair, or for any of the events the grounds keep on the calendar all year — and have a quiet B&B, and a real breakfast, to come home to each night.
The Fair is only two weeks of the year. The grandstand, the speedway and the equestrian park run in every season, and The Grayson is here for all of it — a settled, grown-up place to stay while the grounds are full just up the road.
The grandstand fills with headline concerts and motorsports every Fair — recent years have brought the likes of Amy Grant, Sir Mix-A-Lot and Lee Brice, alongside monster trucks and the demolition derby.
Coming up: Whidbey Island Kennel Club All-Breed Dog Show — November 13–15, 2026
Through the year the fairgrounds host AKC all-breed cluster shows — Sammamish, Whidbey Island and other kennel clubs bring hundreds of exhibitors to Monroe for back-to-back show days, winter into fall.
This is the stay where being truly pet-friendly earns its keep. Your dog stays in the room with you, not out in the car — a fenced yard, room for a crate and a grooming table by the window, and a host who will not blink at any of it.
This fall: Salish Hunter Jumper (Oct 16–17) · NW Regional Pony Club (Oct 24–25) · Western Games Horse Show (Nov 8 & Dec 6)
The fairgrounds' Evergreen Equestrian Park keeps a full show calendar through the warm months — Quarter Horse and hunter/jumper circuits, dressage, and open and breed shows. These are the multi-day kind, where you are at the rail before dawn and done long after dark.
Bring the dog, spread out, and keep your own hours. We are used to horse people and early mornings — breakfast can start as early as you need it.
Woodinville & Carnation, Washington · Summer Concerts
Concert Nights Across the Valley
Some of the region's best outdoor concerts happen a short drive from The Grayson. In Woodinville, Chateau Ste. Michelle has run its summer amphitheater series since 1984 — recent seasons have brought the likes of Bob Dylan, Sarah McLachlan and Beck. Down in Carnation, Remlinger Farms' Concerts at the Farm, presented by Seattle Theatre Group, brings acts such as The Head and the Heart, CAKE and The Black Keys to the Snoqualmie Valley from late spring into fall.
Skip the long freeway crawl back toward the city after the encore. Base with us, and the drive home is short and quiet — with breakfast waiting in the morning.
This fall: Halloween Open Drift & Drift Games (Oct 24) · Halloween Auto X (Oct 25) · Pumpkin Smash 4 Hour Enduro (Oct 31) · Auto X (Nov 7 & 22)
The Northwest's own NASCAR short track — the "Super Speedway of the West" — runs right at the fairgrounds. The season builds all summer to the championship nights each fall, monster trucks and the demolition-derby-and-fireworks roar through Fair week, and the fall brings drift nights, Auto X and the Halloween Pumpkin Smash Enduro.
The bigger race weekends bring whole teams to town, not just fans. The Grayson has hosted three so far — a place for the crew to stay together and park, keep their own schedule, and skip scattering across highway motels.
Fan or crew, the days run long and loud. Come back to a quiet B&B, a real bed, and breakfast in the morning before you point the car home.
One booking note: if your dates come back empty online, please don't read that as a no — reach out. Our booking system can only hold a single suite for every night of a stay; we can split your reservation between suites, or set you up across more than one.
Harmony & Sustainability
Our property operates on a mindful, zero-waste philosophy. Kitchen scraps feed our chickens and rabbits, compostable coffee pods enrich our soil, and single-use plastics have been eliminated in favor of elegant, refillable amenities. We exclusively use fragrance-free laundry products, organic cleaners, and adhere to strict recycling practices.
Outside, we work directly with nature. We utilize compost, maintain dedicated mason bee houses, plant native flower mixes for hummingbirds, and intentionally allow dandelions to bloom freely to nourish bees early in the season. The gardens are maintained using efficient root-drip irrigation. Fresh produce and free-range eggs go to local food banks, to support the people who have supported us.
